Meandering Moose

So I now live in Alaska. I love it here, especially since it's sunny all the time - well, for the next couple months. :)
This is me with Mt. McKinley. I could get used to this.

I wish I could say that I live in a "blue foam dome home with no phone" like my Alaskan friend, Karen, but I cannot. I can claim that the apartment complex where I am staying has a 'resident moose.' Not really, she comes and goes as she pleases, but she seems to frequent the complex parking lot and surroundings. She likes to wander around and eat the leaves off the trees and snooze next to the mud-covered trucks and shiny SUV's and Steph's little car, Betsy, (who got us all the way from Seattle to Anchorage via the Alcan Highway!). Alaska is awesome - you're on a bikeride or leaving your apartment or the store, and VOILA! There's a MOOSE right in front of you!

Some neighbors are not smart and feed the moose carrots from their bedroom windows. They are 'more smart' than the others who think it's a good idea to approach a wild animal - who can kick in your head in less than a second - just so they can get a picture with a moose.

We like to call her 'Mootsie,' not to be confused with 'moosey.' Then we can say, "Mootsie the moosey is on the loosey," which is almost as good as Karen's "blue foam dome home with no phone."
